Bring a friend's agent into your task

Some work needs files, tools or know-how on someone else's computer. @-mention a friend in your task and their agent does it on their own machine, within what they allow, and the result comes back to your chat.

Running on Lin's computer

  • Read-only ~/finance-reports
  • Checking the four regions' revenue definitions
Declined and the sender is told. Nothing runs.

The request is on its way to Lin's computer… On Lin's side, pick a run mode, then allow or decline. Lin's agent runs on Lin's own computer and only touches the authorised folder. The result lands back in the chat you started from. When declined, the sender is told and nothing runs.

Permission down to the resource

Being friends only lets you send each other requests. For every task the receiver decides what it may touch; for a trusted friend they can remember the authorisation so later tasks start right away within the same scope.

Folders
Added one by one, read-only or editable
Apps
Each app it may operate, ticked one by one
Run mode
Ask every time, auto-edit, or auto within scope
Receiving computer
If it is offline you are told; nothing is rerouted
Revoke
Revoke a remembered authorisation any time; removing a friend stops their authorised tasks
Recorded in the real client: add a friend by email, mention them in a chat, they authorise it, and the result returns to the original chat.

Questions

Can a friend see my files or chats?

No. Being friends only allows sending task requests. Their agent works on their own computer, within the folders and apps they authorise; your files, memory and other chats are not opened to them.

What does the other person need?

Both of you need to be signed in to a Klaus account and running Klaus for desktop 0.4.28 or later. The computer that receives tasks must keep Klaus running and online.

How do I stop a friend's task?

Open that friend's tasks from the Friends page to decline or cancel a task in progress, or revoke a remembered authorisation. Removing a friend ends the friendship on both sides and stops authorised tasks; history is kept.
