Install
One-line install commands for macOS and Windows, plus how the install script handles verification, files on disk, and PATH.
macOS (Apple Silicon):
curl -fsSL https://klaus-ai.cn/install.sh | sh
Windows (x64, run in cmd):
curl -fsSLo install.bat https://klaus-ai.cn/install.bat && install.bat
The currently released versions, platforms, and sizes are at https://klaus-ai.cn/cli. That page shows the artifacts the server actually has right now, which is more accurate than anything described here. What the install script does:
- It first detects your system and architecture, then reads the release manifest. Only macOS Apple Silicon and Windows x64 are currently supported; other platforms stop before any download and give you the download address for the Klaus desktop app, so it never fails halfway through an install.
- After downloading, it compares the sha256; a mismatch aborts the install and writes no files at all.
- It installs only into your user directory:
~/.klaus/binon macOS and%LOCALAPPDATA%\Klaus\binon Windows. No sudo or administrator rights are needed. - When that directory is not on PATH, the script writes the line into your shell config file (whichever of
.zshrc/.bash_profile/config.fish/.profileyou have), then tells you to open a new terminal. It changes that file because "you ran the official one-line command and then typedklausonly to get command not found" is worse than editing one line of config. It will not write the line twice, so re-running is a no-op. If you do not want it touching your config file, setKLAUS_NO_MODIFY_PATH=1before running and it will only print what to add. On Windows it writes to the user-level PATH, which likewise takes effect only in newly opened windows. - The script itself is plain text: you can open https://klaus-ai.cn/install.sh in a browser, read it, and then decide whether to run it.
To reinstall, run the same command and it replaces the existing version in place. To install somewhere else, set the directory with KLAUS_INSTALL_DIR.
