Install on macOS
Download the DMG, drag Klaus into Applications, and start working; system requirements and how updates work.
The Klaus desktop app supports Apple Silicon only on macOS and ships as a DMG. For the current release version, channel, and size, trust the download page — it shows exactly which artifacts the server actually has right now.
- Get the DMG from the download page. If the file is large, let the browser finish verifying it.
- Open the DMG, drag Klaus into Applications, then launch it from Launchpad or Finder.
- Klaus opens straight into the workspace; no sign-in is needed. Connect a model source under "Settings → Models" (your own subscription or a custom API key), then pick a project directory. A Klaus account is only used for cross-device features such as friend collaboration, phone pairing and feedback; sign in from the user menu at the bottom left when you need them. See Account and sign-in.
Two things are worth doing right after installation:
- System permissions: connectors such as Messages, Photos, and Safari, as well as Computer Use, all need macOS system-level permissions. They live under Settings → System Permissions. Photos, Automation, and Notifications can be granted directly on that page and take effect immediately; the others take you to System Settings to enable manually, and you need to restart Klaus afterwards. See System permissions.
- Updates: the app checks for updates automatically in the background, so you never need to reinstall by hand. Update packages are signature-verified; see App and updates for how the mechanism works.
If you spend more of your time in the terminal, Klaus Cli reads the same configuration and sessions. See Install Klaus Cli.
